Q: Adult Acne

Hi there.
I am turning 29 this year and I’ve always struggled with acne. My acne now is much better than it was in my teens, but I cannot seem to get rid of black and white heads on my jawline and chin. I use Eucerin skincare products for oily skin and I am relatively happy with it, except that no amount of exfoliation etc ever help with acne on my jawline and chin.
Please advise.

Hello, thank you for your question. I am sorry to hear that you are still struggling with you skin. Acne can sometime be a tricky skin condition to treat as it is almost always driven by an internal trigger. Hormones, systemic inflammation (normally due to gut dysbiosis) and high cortisol levels can all contribute to acne and acne type lesions such as blackhead and congestion. I would recommend that you visit Health Renewal, so that a functional/integrative medical practitioner can have a look at what might be causing or triggering theses acne lesions. From a skincare perspective , although exfoliation is very important it is vital to use the correct exfoliation, otherwise you might even make matters worse. Beta hydroxy acids (Salicylic acid) has been known to be able to penetrate to pores to not only exfoliate the skins surface but to unclog pores. At Skin Renewal we do Beta Chemical peels, these peels can be done every 2 weeks to ensure we keep to pores clean and unclogged. These peels can be combined with Laser Genesis to ensure your cellular turnover rate is intact to prevent the pores from clogging up again. Laser genesis will also help with your skins ability to heal itself to prevent scarring and marks from forming. For homecare I would recommend that you invest in a good quality medical skin care range such as Lamelle Clarity range. This range contains Salicylic acid as well as Vit A. Please visit to find more information on this range.
