Graceful ageing: No more sagging face

In partnership with SA’s top medical aesthetic companies

Gravity getting you down? No fear. There are solutions for dealing with a sagging face and brow without resorting to the surgeon’s knife.

One of the newer non-invasive, non-surgical techniques for helping us defy the ageing process is thread lifting. It’s used strategically and often in combination with other non-invasive treatments to give us a natural, refreshed appearance, without any real downtime.

Princess® LFL Lift

One of the most successful applications of thread lifting techniques is treating  skin that has started to sag. A consultation with a trained aesthetic doctor will confirm if you’re a candidate, and what results you can expect with a PDO (Polydioxanone) thread lift, such as the Princess® LFL Lift.

During the procedure, multiple PDO threads are injected into the targeted area, e.g., chin (for a sagging chin and jawline) or brow area (for sagging brows and forehead). They are placed deep under the surface of the skin using different lengths of thin acupuncture needles.

The threads are placed strategically, guided by the natural tension lines of the skin. Once placed, they act as a scaffold, tightening loose and sagging skin. It also has a long-term benefit as the threads create a frame for collagen to attach to, which stimulates collagen and elastin production in the area, so it can have an effect that’s similar to a surgical facelift.

The pluses

Thread lifting is a much less invasive intervention than having a surgical face lift. The cuts are much smaller, there are no visible scars and healing is relatively quick. The procedure is quick (15 to 40 minutes); has a low risk of pain and results are visible immediately.

Is thread lifting for me?

Thread lifting has multiple applications, but it isn’t for everyone, nor can it substitute everything done with a facelift.

Best results are seen on people aged between 35 and 65, with relatively good skin tone and only a little sagging. If you have a lot of loose skin, surgery may be the correct option for you.

At your consultation, the doctor will advise you on your options.

Good to know

As with all of the newer technologies, results and techniques are being continually refined with ongoing practice. And, as with everything in life, the results are only as good as the training and experience of the injector.

Any medical procedure carries a small chance of a complication, or you may not be 100 per cent satisfied with the result, in which case you need to be able to return for correction – thread lifts can be reversed or altered. This is why it is vital to choose a reputable clinic that uses registered product.

Silhouette Soft

Supported by clinical studies and peer reviewed data, Silhouette Soft is  a proven alternative to facelift surgery. Silhouette Soft is a minimally invasive procedure whereby suspension sutures are inserted into the sub dermis to provide an immediate yet discreet lift to sagging tissue in the face, cheek, jowl and neck.

Silhouette Soft threads are the only threads to offer bi-directional and resorbable cones on polylactic acid sutures . This means patients benefit from a double positive action of both Lift and regeneration of natural collagen.

The most common treatment areas include:

  • Mid face skin sagging
  • Correction of volume in the jawline
  • Correction of shape to the cheek area
  • Reshaping of neck relaxation
  • Correction of brow sagging .

Treatment duration is approximately 30 minutes and need to be performed by an accredited Silhouette Soft Physician. The results last up to 18 months. For further information contact your Skin Renewal clinic.
